Darrell A. Hazard, Pastor
Pastor Darrell Hazard’s greatest aim in ministry is to see the people of God trained, discipled and unleashed for Christian ministry – to see them transformed from mere churchgoers to mature followers of Christ, duplicating themselves in others. He is a child of the church, son of Rev. and Mrs. Wallace Hazard of Wakefield, Rhode Island. He was born again in February 1981 at a youth camp under the anointed ministry of Bishop Gilbert A. Thompson. Subsequent to that, he accepted the call to ministry after much guidance from his parents and pastor. He is a 1991 graduate of the University of Rhode Island (B.A. Political Science) and a 1994 graduate of the
Anderson University School of Theology (M.Div. Pastoral Studies).
From 1994-1998, Pastor Hazard served as the Youth Pastor for the
Church of God of West Broward in Plantation, Florida under the leadership of Dr. Reginald G. Smith, and was ordained to the Christian ministry at COGWB on March 19, 1995. From 1999-2005, he served as the Senior Pastor of the historic
First Church of God in Baltimore, Maryland, and on April 22, 2007, he was installed as senior pastor for Accokeek First Church of God.
Pastor Hazard has served the local and national church in a variety of capacities. Locally, he has served as both the Secretary and Chair of the CDP Ministerial Assembly. Nationally, he has served as Assistant Treasurer of the National Inspirational Youth Convention; as a team member of the S.W.A.T. (Strategic Workshop and Training) Youth team; as the Secretary of the National Association of the Church of God Ministerial Assembly, and currently serves as the Dean for the In-Service Training Institute (
